間 Paused

Giving people a small ‘pause’ moment to explore a sense of curiosity within a given space. It is not just about having the negative space help define the foreground rather is about the negative space being one continuous piece with the image itself. Neither the blank space nor the filled space is the point of the piece but rather together they simply form the experience the piece provides.

This June 2019 collection from KRY_TAY is based on the Japanese term Ma, which directly translates as the space between 2 things not considered an absence that separates, but as a relationship. The use of craft shows in all parts of the collection, from hand-painted textures with white clay and weaved fabrics. All with the reciprocal essence of white on white at limitless possibilities.
