Ikebana
IKEBANA
Styling project.
The aesthetics of my styled looks comes from the Brand: Celine & Magazine: Union
My concept plays around the idea of Ikebana. Ikebana includes minimalism, shape and line, form, humanity, aesthetics and balance. All these are a good representation of the Celine’s collection. On top of that, being inspired by the appearance of the Japanese flower vendors (lady), she layers and wraps fabric around her whole body; even her legs were wrapped around with white cotton.
Coming back to the term: Ikebana, it plays around with structure. Plants and objects are arranged strategically in a vase, bowl or pot. Therefore, playing with postures as a technique is how I want to form garments on the body and also how the surrounding objects affect the overall posture and structure of it.
Features:
Layering structure – wrapping the innocence of a delicate flower.
Body posture – it reflects on the 3 basic steps on starting out an Ikebana, Shin (upright), Soe and Hikae.
