Sustainability Project (Team Project)

Our inspiration of this project comes from the story of this brand itself. Louis Vuitton is simply about travel. He took 2 years on foot (292 mile journey) with stops to carry out odd jobs to support himself along the way. With that story of LV, we wanted to create a collection that is functional for a journey for 3 markets (Ages of 25, 45 & 60). Each look will consist of an outerwear, as we believe it is an essential piece when travelling.

In terms of sustainability, we experimented with many ways on how it can be interpreted into our designs. The square pattern technique was one of the main ones that we utilize in the collection, which also led us to exploring the main pattern of a Kimono as it is mostly quadrilateral shaped. The patterns were cut and designed in a way that fabric waste minimized. If there is ‘waste’, extra fabric is used to create accessories like bags or functional details like pockets onto the garments.
Look 1: 25years old, 3-piece look; Look 2: 45 years old; 2-piece look; Look 3: 60 years old, 1- piece look.

The prints for each look expresses the mood of our created client’s journey, which were places she normally goes to. We started off with a vibrant color for the print (Look 1) to represent her youth, then Look 2 was a red tone print and lastly Look 3 was a combination of tones that was slightly on a dark end as we believe was appropriate for a matured age woman.
