Strangers
Marketing Project

The title of my project is strangers. I am interested in the way we observe people on the street that are unknown to us. Free information is given to us unconsciously, whether they are asked or not. The way they walk, dress or talk reflects on an unconscious identity given to any passerby whether they want it or not. An artist called Sophie Calle inspired me to carry out my curiosity of strangers and trying to understand them with creating a story based on the free information I collected while I followed them for a period of time. I believe this is a form of research that is interestingly abstract opens up new possibilities of thoughts.

This video illustrates an experiment done in a public space. Allowing the unknown people to take on a sense of curiosity upon the “stranger” installation. Just like a passerby, it is whether they would want to take a step of coming up to you or just walk pass by. The installation includes many similar shapes of body parts, like the head, hand, legs ( all in which you see in a stranger walk pass you immediately). However, it is that sense of curiosity that takes you further into almost like an “outcome”. For example, he walking this certain way because he might be an old man or his shoes might be uncomfortable.
